Lizzy + Joey, Engaged | Cincinnati, OH

Drum roll, please! This blog post is finally here! I've been dying to share these Cincinnati engagement pictures since we took them earlier this month. But before we get to the pictures I must introduce this cute couple! The bride-to-be, Lizzy, shows up in all of my family photo albums from the past decade. That's because she's been my sister's best friend since they met sometime back in middle school. Or before? I can't really remember when it happened exactly but they've been friends ever since. When she and Joey asked me to photograph their wedding I was thrilled! I drove up to Cincinnati earlier this month and we shot the photos below. Enjoy! :)

"JOEY AND I MET IN HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH A MUTUAL FRIEND (BEST MAN, DANNY BARON). WE GREW CLOSE DURING MY JUNIOR YEAR AND REMAINED GREAT FRIENDS THROUGH THE START OF MY COLLEGE CAREER.
AFTER A YEAR OR TWO OF DISTANCE- I RECEIVED A RANDOM TEXT FROM THE ONE AND ONLY JOEY HASELMAYER. "HEY CLOWN" HE SAID... THAT WAS IT. I FELL IN LOVE.
OR AT LEAST THAT'S HOW HE WOULD TELL IT. IN MY VERSION (REALITY) I WAS SHOCKED BY THE CALL FROM AN OLD FRIEND. IMMEDIATELY EXCITED TO RECONNECT, I TEXTED MEREDITH (MAID OF HONOR) AND ARRANGED FOR THE OLD GANG TO HANG OUT THAT NIGHT. DANNY, MEREDITH, MYSELF AND JOEY SPENT THE EVENING REMINISCING, LAUGHING, AND EATING FAR TOO MANY PANCAKES."
-Lizzy

They wanted their pictures to be first and foremost casual. No where they wouldn't normally hang out. So we picked two great Cincinnati spots: Findlay Market and Rhinegeist Brewery .

Let's start with the brewery....

I love that they basically turned our photo shoot into a date. It's the best.  It makes sense that Lizzy goes on to say,

"NOT LONG AFTER, JOEY AND I REMEMBERED WHY WE HAD BEEN SUCH GOOD FRIENDS. THERE WAS A SPECIAL CONNECTION BETWEEN US- ONE OF MUTUAL RESPECT, GENUINE CARE, AND INSANE ATTRACTION (OF COURSE)."

And another Cincinnati favorite, Findlay Market!

"JOEY AND I SET OUT TO CREATE A RELATIONSHIP THAT WAS FIRST AND FOREMOST, GOD- CENTERED. WE KNEW HE WAS AND IS TODAY, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE LOVE WE SHARE TOGETHER. WITH GOD IN THE CENTER- ALL THING ARE POSSIBLE"

-Lizzy, Bride-to-Be

Thanks so much, Lizzy and Joey! We are SO excited to be there photographing your wedding day!

Annie on Ida Street, Signature (Blogger) Style | Cincinnati, OH

Welcome to Ida Street! You are now officially transported to the world of style blogger, Annie Butler. She and I go back a few years (think 2008) when we waitressed together in college. Since then we haven't kept in touch except through mutual stalking of each other's creative ventures which is why I was thrilled when she hired me to photograph her at home/work/studio for the re-launch of her blog.

Annie has this great poster in her kitchen that says, "but first, COFFEE" :) I knew I liked this girl! As she made coffee I got busy photographing all the little details that make her apartment slash studio so great.

" This is where I write to you guys almost every single night &  where I binge watch Netflix like it's nobody's business. This is where I'm learning to cook & budget & figure out who I am & how to succeed. "
-Annie Butler

Adorable, isn't it?! I think I could just move in. Annie has an awesome signature style. Lots of vintage/industrial furniture pieces, exposed walls and ceilings, and tons of wall decor. She has so many photographs from place she's lived and loved. It's fitting that she would name her blog after the street she calls home!

"With less space in the studio I had to get creative about surfaces. Purses went on the wall. Hats went onto hooks. & pictures went onto the fridge." -Annie
"But mostly, when you live alone, you learn about yourself. & that's some pretty good company"  -Annie

And then we ventured outside for some fun portraits around her neighborhood. Annie is trendy, laid back, and always smiling. Her blog is all things fresh and fun and exciting. Hear it from her:

"Ida Street is a real place. I moved there just after my 24th birthday.  It was in that very first apartment of my own that this blog started taking shape. Here is a space that I document the things on the mind of a twenty something: fashion & style, young adult life, learning how to cook, the cool/hip spots to hit in Cincinnati (holla at my hometown!). You know... the kind of things that happen on Ida Street." -Annie

Amy and Andy - Canopy Creek Farm Wedding | Middletown, OH

Ooh, what a great wedding to launch our blog! These two should be professional wedding planners.  Both Amy and Andy are artists so their wedding was AMAZING. I've known (and photographed!) these two high school sweethearts for several years now.  After I did their engagement session last summer, it was such an honor to be chosen to photograph their big day. Check out the photos and read some of Amy's thoughts--it's a DIY bride's dream.

"Having an art background made the decision of having a DIY wedding a no brainer." -Amy, the bride

How cute are the flower girls? (They're also sisters of the groom!)

"Since we both wanted a traditional wedding ceremony, we were looking for an older church that had pews and a center aisle. It was also important that there was a smooth visual transition from the church to the reception venue..."
"We really wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities and capture who we are. Since we both come from a country background, we wanted a place that could be rustic, classy, laid back and formal all at once."  -Amy
"For our guests’ favors, we wanted to do something that was practical, so we decided on mason jar drinking glasses. We put chalk labels on the jars for personalization and included a pewter  daisy lid with straws. "

I just love their head table--and Amy made the heart garland herself!

Their wedding was filled with LOTS of dancing! Brooke and I had so much fun photographing their wedding--we were part of the family by the end of it.

Congrats, Amy and Andy Naylor! We love you!
