Hi friends! I am so excited to share Hayley and Stephen's gorgeous St. Simons Island wedding with you today! It is guaranteed to make you smile and if you're planning a wedding you'll want to take notes. Hayley (and her mom!) did an awesome job of pairing traditional with current trends for a classically beautiful (and thoroughly Southern) wedding. As Hayley put it,
"Our wedding style was classic traditional. We had a Christian ceremony, I was escorted down the aisle by my father and given away by my parents. My wedding dress was a strapless sweetheart neckline satin mermaid gown. Our wedding colors were navy and champagne. The groom wanted to wear navy so they wore navy tuxes and the girls were long champagne chiffon dresses. We used a lot of candles at the ceremony to give it a romantic feel!"
One detail that I loved: Hayley tied her great-grandmother's wedding band to her own bouquet. This is such a sweet, simple way to honor a family member who has passed away. I also liked how the bride and bridesmaids had co-ordinating bouquet wraps. Several of Hayley's accessories were gifts from a Monogram themed Bridal Shower her bridesmaids threw her a few weeks before the wedding. The monogramed gifts that Hayley gave back to her girls were a perfect way to tie everything together.
Hayley and Stephen also picked out gifts for each other. From Hayley,
Our wedding gifts we exchanged the day of the wedding. I gave Stephen gold German Shorthaired Pointer cuff links, because we have a GSP puppy, so it was like she got to be there too. He gave me a pandora bracelet with a heart charm that opens up to have a wedding ring inside!
One thing that I hope comes through in these photos is how beautiful and calm Hayley was all day long. That's really hard to do when you're the bride! But Hayley prioritized her own sanity by delegating all wedding day decision-making to her bridesmaids and the professionals she'd hired.
"I knew pretty much how i wanted every detail of my wedding to go, but i left everything to the professionals. Thankfully we had an exceptional florist, DJ, photographer, reception coordinators, so all of my wishes were met! I kept thinking I would get nervous but I never did. I think I got to enjoy our big day more because I didn't worry about one thing! "
Brides out there, this is great advice! Your wedding day will be filled with lots of tiny decisions and it's easy to be overwhelmed. Make sure you communicate with your vendors as much as you can ahead of time!
Without further ado, I proudly present the Purnell wedding!
Congrats, Hayley and Stephen! You deserve all the best, I'm so happy for you!
